Light matter interaction can provide rich constitutional information in tissue, cells, and molecules. Our laboratory has developed a broad range of opto-analytical sensing, imaging and stimulation (OASIS) technologies with core innovations in material, device, and instrumentation. In this talk, I will first report some of the light-based plasmonic sensors and their potential applications for in vitro diagnostics. I will next discuss label-free spectroscopic imaging using elastic and inelastic scattering contrast mechanisms for biological and biomedical applications. Lastly I will present a novel multi-modal neural probe which is designed for deep-brain light stimulation and in situ electrophysiology.
