AGAVE Science-as-a-Service Platform for Supporting Collaborative, Computation and Data Intensive Research Projects
Date: Thu, April 14, 2016
Time: 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Location: Information Technology Center 105A/B
Speaker: ITS-CI and the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC)
ITS-CI and the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) will be co-hosting
a hands-on workshop and a public seminar on the AGAVE
science-as-a-service platform for supporting collaborative, computation
and data intensive research projects.
Workshop: Wednesday 4/13 9:30 - 4:30PM - ITC 105A/B
Public Seminar: Thursday 4/14 11AM - 12PM - ITC 105A/B
The Workshop is targeted at users (and those who manage data and compute
for others) who wish to deploy scripts and software within one or more
iPlant/CyVerse (http://www.cyverse.org/) platforms for doing computation
to further their research. We will use a hackathon-style approach to
using the Agave APIs, and will adapt to the interests and use cases of
the attendees.
Biography
Agave is an open source, platform-as-a-service for virtualized cloud
computing and data management that is powering a number of current
community science gateways including:
* CyVerse, (http://www.cyverse.org/) which provides life scientists
with powerful computational infrastructure to handle huge datasets
and complex analyses that enable data-driven discovery,
* the Arabidopsis information portal , Araport (https://www.araport.org)
* BioExtract (https://www.bioextract.org/)an open, web-based system
designed to aid researchers in the analysis of genomic data by
providing a platform for the creation of bioinformatic workflows.
"We are currently partnering with TACC on an NSF Grant for Agave"
